Toyota Tercel for Sale by Owner

Toyota-Tercel

The Tercel was first launched in 1978 as a sister model to the Toyota Corolla. It is a popular model that has spanned five design generations. It is known for its ultra-compact design, fuel economy and longevity.

The first generation of Tercels was sold from 1978 to 1982. This vehicle pioneered the front-wheel drive design which was a first for the Japanese auto maker.

The second generation, which came out in 1982, brought changes in the body style as well as performance engineering. The earlier models were only available as hatchback or coupe styles. The second generation added angular contours to the body style for greater eye appeal.

The third generation, released beginning in 1987, offered slightly larger body styles with hatchbacks still being available. Additional changes included more functional interior features such as vinyl mats and better upholstery for easier cleaning.

In 1991 the fourth generation of Tercels was released. This time Toyota only offered sedan styles in either two-or four-door models. A few hatchbacks were produced, but only for Japanese consumers.

The fifth generation, which rolled out from 1994 to 2000, was the final generation of this type of Toyota. It offered a more solid exterior design with additional interior features such as more airbags and modified designs for passenger comfort.

As with many Toyota vehicles, the Tercel can easily drive over 200,000 miles as long as regular maintenance procedures are implemented. This makes the used Toyota Tercel an attractive choice in the used car market.
