The Ford Explorer Sport Trac debuted in the year 2000 for the 2001 model year and was built on a lengthened explorer chassis. It has a small pick up bed behind the four SUV doors that is made entirely of plastic.
A new Ford Explorer Sport Trac was introduced in 2006 as a 2007 model. The four door crew cab pickup is the only body style available. It has a long body in order to accommodate a longer wheel base which provides enough rear leg room and space for the four foot cargo bed.
Two trims are available for the used Ford Explorer Sport Trac; the luxury limited and base XLT. The base XLT features include power windows and mirrors, cruise control, keyless entry, CD player, and air conditioning. On the other hand, the luxury limited has larger 18 inch wheels, fog lights, side-step bars, and color-keyed mirrors and bumpers.
This generation has two engine options: The standard 4.0L V6 engine that produces 210hp and 254 lb-ft torque or the 4.6L V8 which produces 292 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. Both engines have choices of either four wheel drive or rear-wheel drive.
