The BMW Z4 series is part of the German manufacturer’s sports car lineup with a history that began in 2002 when the first generation reached the consumer markets. Now, the original models can only be purchased from used car dealers and private owners.
Since 2002, BMW released 2 different generations for the Z4 series. The evolution of the series was dictated by the introduction on newer and more powerful engines and exterior design changes. The second generation started production in 2009. This marked a change in terms of engine options as it introduced a twin-scroll turbo 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine.
BMW did produce a hatchback coupe version of the Z4 from 2006 to 2008. The hatchback was discontinued and no longer available for the second generation. Also, all the models are two seat rear-wheel drives. The vehicle has won multiple design awards. It featured a stiffer chassis and was build to be larger than the Z3 series.
